Privacy Policy

Framework Tools is a jobsite app for construction superintendents: photo log, punch list, hours and reports. Your photos, notes and reports are stored in your own Google Drive, not on our servers. We don't sell your information, show ads, or use tracking or analytics.
Google account and Google Drive
- You sign in with Google so the app can save your work to your Google Drive.
- The app asks only for the drive.file permission: it can see and change only the files and folders it creates (the “Site Photo Log” folder and what's inside it). It cannot see the rest of your Drive.
- Google's sign-in tokens stay on your phone. To turn on “Stay signed in”, a one-time sign-in code is exchanged for a token through our server; the token is sent back to your phone and is not kept on the server.
- You can remove the app's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
What is stored on your phone
- Your job list, rooms, punch list, hours, trim takeoffs, your name, title and company, and your settings.
- Any API keys you enter for AI or Fieldy. They stay on your phone and are copied to your own Google Drive so your other phones can use them.
- Photos waiting to upload when there's no signal.
- Settings › Export backup saves all of this to a file you choose. That file includes your API keys, so keep it private.
Location
- If location is turned on, the app records where each photo was taken. It's saved with the photo's notes in your Google Drive, and used to recognize which job you're at.
- For the weather on reports, the app sends the approximate location (rounded to about 1 km) and the dates of the report to Open-Meteo, a free weather service. No account or personal details are sent.
- You can turn location off in Settings.
AI report writing (optional)
- AI features only work if you add your own API key from Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini) or xAI (Grok).
- When you tap an AI button, the notes for that report, and only the photos you pick, are sent to the provider you chose, under that provider's own terms and privacy policy. ChatGPT requests (and others, if a direct connection fails) pass through our server on the way, without being stored.
- Nothing is sent to an AI provider unless you tap an AI button.
Fieldy conversations (optional)
- If you add your Fieldy API key, the app reads your Fieldy conversation summaries during work hours (through our server, which passes them to your phone without storing them) to help fill in reports.
- Personal conversations are left out of reports. Conversation locations are compared on your phone only.
Boss links (optional)
- If you create a punch list link to share, a copy of your punch list (job and room names, items, status and who added them) is kept on our server so people with the link can see it.
- Items and photos they add are held there until your app picks them up. Photos are deleted from the server once they're in your Drive, removed items are deleted after 30 days, and you can turn off or delete a link at any time.
Sub links (optional)
- If you make a sub link for a job, the person with the link sees that job's name and room names, and only their own entries. They never see your punch list, photos or other jobs.
- Photos and notes they send are held on our server until your app files them in your Google Drive; the photos are then deleted from the server, and the rest of the entry after 30 days. You can turn off or delete a link at any time.
Our server
- The app is hosted on Netlify. Like any website host, Netlify keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and the time of a request) for security and reliability.
- We don't keep copies of your photos, notes, reports or hours on the server, apart from the boss-link data above.
Google API data
Framework Tools' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from your Google Drive is used only to provide the app's features to you, is never sold, never used for advertising, and never used to train AI models by us.
Deleting your data
- Your work is in your Google Drive “Site Photo Log” folder; delete it there whenever you want.
- Uninstalling the app or clearing its site data removes everything stored on the phone (export a backup first if you want to keep it).
- Delete boss links in Settings › Boss links.
Children
Framework Tools is a work tool and is not meant for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
